There are only four places on Earth where you can see a RHD Opel. Ireland, Southern Africa (SA, Namibia, Botswana, etc), New Zealand and Australia (As there was like 3 months where Opel decided to sell cars in Aus/NZ before deciding to sell the Astra as a Holden). I think that Japan may also have RHD Opels, but non-luxury foreign cars are rather unusual sights in Japan.

Another fun fact is that Chile is the only place you can get Opel’s in the entire American continent. Although sales are pretty low.

Neat. I always thought places like Argentina or Brazil would have them, but I guess all of theirs are rebadged as Chevrolets.

Japan did, until 2006. Used to be GM’s strongest brand in the country, peaking at 38,000 sold in 1996. Dropped all the way to around 1,800 in 2005.

Of course, now with Opel being under PSA control, there may be a chance they could return, since Peugeot and Citroen are sold there officially, and doing a somewhat decent job in sales.

I’ve seen a few British registered RHD Opels in the U.K. But they were very likely ordered from a dealership as a new build on the continent.

I’m assuming that, or Irish imports.

Almost certainly not from Ireland, the cars are too expensive.

Sorry, I got way laid as I was writing.

I meant to say, certainly not from Ireland as the cars are more expensive there than they are in the U.K.

You can usually pick up quite a discount by buying from closer to where the vehicle you want is made such as Nissan Qashqai in the U.K. Or the Opel Insignia in Germany.

In Brazil, we got them in the 90's/00's as Chevrolets but now all GM cars sold here are mostly USDM (Cruze, Trax, Equinox, Camaro) or home designed (Onix, Prisma, Cobalt, Montana, Spin). We also get two Holdens (Colorado and Trailblazer) and a remaining Opel, the old Captiva.

Honestly, I miss dearly the Opel days. The Astra, Zafira, Meriva and etc were better built than the BRDM shit we get now. The Onix, best-selling car in the whole Latin America by the way, got 0 (not a typo) of 34 points in the LatinNCAP.
